MY STORY

Why am I a Doula?
My first birth was traumatic! It left me with lots of fear and anxiety surrounding pregnancy and birth. When it came time for baby number two I was terrified of a repeat experience. Thankfully I had a close friend who also happened to be a doula. I honestly didn't really think I needed a doula and wasn't quite sure what they did but I trusted her and she had such an optimistic view about the whole process I figured it would be worth a try.
It ended up being the best experience! Even though it did not go according to plan I left that birth 100% satisfied. These experiences left me with an overwhelming desire to educate and empower women in the same way that she had done for me. And now here I am living out that dream.

In 2019 I was trained during an intense 3 day all encompassing workshop. The training was produced and taught by a wonderful group of home-birth midwives of Otero Birth in Roswell NM. My skills include: Rebozo, accupressure, counter pressure, use of peanut and birth balls, and I have an extensive knowledge of helpful positions to be in while laboring.
I am a Certified Birth Doula through Birth Arts International.
Additionally I am a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist through Lactation Education Resources-completed 90 hours of breastfeeding education.
I have attended a Spinning Babies workshop.
